Dear Friends,
It is with great gratitude and excitement that I introduce myself to you as the new CEO of Kalamazoo
Valley Habitat for Humanity. I was honored to join this incredible organization over a year ago that has a
42-year legacy of building safe, decent, and affordable homes for families in need across our
community.
Since 1983, Habitat has partnered with hundreds of families, volunteers, donors, and community leaders to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. Together, we have changed the lives of more than 260 families—and that number continues to grow. Our homes stand as symbols of hope, progress, and the power of what we can achieve when we come together.
Our 2025 theme, “Building on Our Next 40 Years,” reminds us to celebrate the impact of our past while boldly stepping into the future. The need for affordable housing in Kalamazoo has never been greater. Demand continues to rise, yet available housing stock remains limited. Families are being priced out of the market, and the dream of homeownership is slipping further out of reach for too many of our neighbors.
That is why our mission matters now more than ever. And that is why I am inviting you to join us as we
build forward.
Whether you’ve given your time, your talent, or your treasure in the past—we thank you. And as we
launch this next chapter, we ask you to continue walking alongside us. Your support helps us provide
more than just walls and a roof; it builds futures, dignity, and lasting change.
Thank you for believing in this mission. Thank you for building with us.
With gratitude,
Teresa Thrash
CEO
