Step 1

If the items fit in your vehicle, you can drop off them at the store, 7612 S. Westnedge Ave., Portage, MI.

Step 2

Drop off your donation during store hours:

Monday – Friday: 9:30am – 5pm
Saturday: 10am – 4pm

Please do not leave donations when the store is closed!

Step 3

To schedule a pick-up of large items that will not fit in your vehicle, call the Habitat ReStore Donation Hotline at 269-381-5523.

All items must be easily accessible on the ground floor and ready for pick-up when our truck arrives. in addition to the merchandise donation, if you chose to make a monetary donation to Habitat , the driver can provide a donation receipt.  

The Habitat ReStore accepts donations of most items commonly found in home improvement stores. To ensure all donated materials can be safely reused and sold, all items must be clean, stain-free, and in good working condition. We kindly ask donors to review our guidelines, as accepted items may change based on inventory, floor space, and customer demand. Your care in selecting quality donations helps us make the greatest impact for local families.

This list is meant to provide a general guide to what we can and cannot receive. Based on past experience, we are unable to accept certain items for safety, quality, and space reasons. Thank you for understanding and helping us ensure your donations make the greatest impact.

Yes, Please!

Architectural Items (including Doors & Hardware)

We accept architectural items that are clean, undamaged, and in good condition, such as: Mantels and columns; Fireplaces and fireplace inserts; Framed stained glass; Wood or wrought-iron stair railings and spindles; Interior and exterior doors, with or without frames, in clean and working condition; Door hardware in new or excellent condition; Keyed doorknobs must include matching keys and all required parts.

Lumber & Building Materials

We accept lumber and building materials that are clean and free of mold, rot, rust, or fasteners, such as: New or like-new lumber (no nails, screws, or damage); Trim, molding, and baseboards; Unused flooring materials; Tile, grout, and installation materials (new and unopened).

Appliances

We accept the following appliances that are clean, in good working condition, and generally 10 years old or newer, such as: Refrigerators; Freezers; Gas and electric stoves; Vent hoods; Microwaves; Washers and dryers, Dishwashers; Small household appliances.

Electrical/Electronics

We accept: Electrical parts and devices new in their original packaging, such as: New wire and electrical hardware; Flat-screen TVs in excellent working condition Please note that TVs must be dropped off in-store; we are unable to pick up TVs with our donation truck.

Furniture

We accept furniture that is clean, structurally sound, and free of rips, stains, holes, odors, pet hair, or damage, such as: Sofas, chairs, and recliners; Dining tables and chairs; Dressers, nightstands, and bedroom furniture; Bookcases and shelving; Desks and office furniture.

Tools and Equipment

We accept tools and equipment that are clean, rust-free, and in good working condition, such as: Hand tools; Power tools and machines. All must be fully functional and safe to operate

Hazardous materials or toxic chemicals, including pesticides and fertilizers, or any liquids of any kind unless approved by management.

Books, CDs, DVDs, or other media; media players; electronics of any kind (including tube TVs, CD/DVD players, miscellaneous wires or parts); or computer equipment such as computers, phones, printers, or their components.

Shower doors (unless new with frame and hardware), doors that have been painted multiple times, bifold doors unless new in packaging with hardware, used faucets, factory-molded sinks, or unframed/beveled mirrors.

Used deck wood. All donated lumber must be clean, undamaged, and free of nails, screws, or any other fasteners.

Outdated, dirty, damaged, or non-working appliances, including dehumidifiers.

Mattresses or box springs; clothing, pillows, or other textiles; or any rugs.

Children’s items, toys, or clothing.

Automobile parts and cast iron.

Medical equipment.
