What do you get when you hold a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity on Fat Tuesday? The Habi Hour Mardi Party! Tickets are on sale now for Habitat’s special annual event, Tuesday, February 28, 5:01 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at the Cityscape Event Center, 125 S. Kalamazoo Mall, Kalamazoo. Habi Hour raises funds to help Habitat build, renovate, and repair homes in the community.

This year’s Habi Hour Mardi Party will be the best Mardi Gras party in town. Mardi Gras décor and festivities will create a Big Easy evening complete with live New Orleans jazz by The Brass Rail, New Orleans appetizers, and a Mardi Gras photo booth, courtesy of Big Lyle’s.

Habi Hour Mardi Party tickets are on sale now for $35 per person (plus handling fees) at, at the Habitat office, 1126 Gull Road, Kalamazoo, Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., and at the Habitat ReStore, 7612 S. Westnedge Ave., Portage, Tuesday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The ticket includes one free beverage and “Habi-tizers.” Convenient parking will be available in the adjacent Kalamazoo Mall Ramp (limited spaces available). Guests will receive a Habi Hour souvenir and must be 21 years old to participate. A portion of the ticket price -- $15 -- is tax deductible as a charitable donation.

Habi Hour will feature a fast-paced live auction of enticing travel and tour packages including a Royal Caribbean Enchantment of the Sea cruise, a Mackinaw Island and Grand Hotel getaway, a Leelanau Fall Color Tour, an Upper Peninsula Adventure, and more. Habi Hour participants also can bid on silent auction items contributed by local artists and businesses.

“The Mardi Party theme will take Habi Hour to a whole new level of fun this year,” said Charlie Robertson, Habitat’s executive director. “Habitat helps qualified local families build, buy, and maintain affordable homes. Habi Hour gives us an opportunity to raise funds and generate excitement for the work we all do together. It’s one more way the community can engage in our mission and join the Habitat movement. That’s when the fun really starts.”
